5 Low Maintenance Garden Ideas
So, you want a beautiful garden, but have no time or energy to care for it. That’s common. Most people would love to have a scenic view outside of their homes to gaze onto while they contemplate the universe.
But, we can’t all afford to hire a weekly gardener to maintain such a thing. Alas, we’re stuck with our dreary, half-dead plants. We walk by them everyday and curse their name because they won’t just take care of themselves!
Why can’t you have a botanical masterpiece to call home? Oh wait, you can!
Not every garden has to be difficult and time consuming (not to mention costly) to maintain! Here are a few tricks to help you get started on your journey to a backyard oasis:
I know it’s “not the same” but it’s also not that different. If you stay away from cheap, melt-in-the-sun, plants, you can find some pretty incredible fake plants to call your own!
I’ve walked through gardens a few times and reveled at the magic of a certain flower only to lean in and ask myself (more than once) wait… is this real?
Why not mix and match? Throw some real ones in with some fake ones and cut your maintenance time in HALF! No one will know the difference. Just have a no touching policy in your back yard.
Low Maintenance Plants:
Cacti are fantastic if you live in a sunny climate! You can leave those bad boys out there forever with little to no watering needed. Plus, there are some incredibly beautiful cacti that will add a tranquil beauty to any yard. It’s worth a try!
Who doesn’t love the smell of lavender? Mark off your territory with incredible lavender hedges that look amazing, and smell even better!
The best part? No maintenance aside from a yearly clipping once the flowers fade away, and minimal watering.
These are just as awesome as they sound. They are completely weather resistant. Which means it can be blazing hot, freezing cold, or all over the place, and these guys will survive! All you have to do is sit back and enjoy. Infrequent clipping and a light hose drip will do for these.
Woodchips, Pebbles, and the Like
I call this ground cover! You can find some stunning woodchips and pebbles to take up a lot of unused space in your garden. This will leave you with only your favorite plants to take care of (unless you opt for the fake plants, then you won’t even have to do that) without leaving your yard looking dead and empty.
How about you mix an match? Utilize a little bit of every one of these tips and create a backyard oasis that anyone would die for! All you’ll have to do is sit back and relax.
