This Man Drilled a Hole In an Old Car Tire, And Created a Very Cool Thing
One can always make use of old tires by making something useful rather than letting them sit idle collecting dust in the yard. This will repurpose them and give you an amazing interior and exterior decoration. These tires can be used to make furniture, swings for kids or flower pots. Reusing old tires saves money and the amazing prestigious items that come from these tires are costly. The uniqueness of the item made depends on the creativity involved while making it. This article focuses more on how to make a coffee table for the living room from old tires.
Identify a tire that has no holes or large rips. Although the treads of the tire do not determine whether the selected tire can make a sturdy base, it is important to ensure that the selected tire is entirely intact.
Thoroughly scrub the selected tire with a soap using a brush. It is easier if this is done outside and near a garden horse. Repeat the scrubbing if necessary and then horse off the debris and the soap. Then leave the tire to dry completely.
Obtain the measurements of the whole opening using a tape measure so as to fit the plywood size the cut out a piece for the top. This can be of any shape. Mark the measurements on the plywood by use of a pencil and cut it to fit using a jigsaw.
For the bottom, take the tire’s measurements and subtract 2 inches. Cut out the piece and set it aside.
Position the legs on the bottom considering the spacing. Ensure the placement gives the best balance. Using wood glue, attach the legs to the bottom and screw after the glue has dried completely.
Start with the lower piece and apply enough glue.
Paint all wood pieces with a few layers of paint coats. Be creative while combining different color paints.
Apply construction glue and wind the rope round to cover the outside area of the tire until no part of the tire is seen.
Place the table in your living room and enjoy the beautiful coffee table.
